Innovation and research are widely recognized as core driver of economic growth for further development. Prioritizing and fostering innovation and investments in the research have become even more critical after the pandemic not just for sustenance but for future growth. The success of innovation depends upon the inclusive partnerships – at the global, regional, national, and local levels. Global collaborations play a key role in accelerating innovations in the most efficient and effective form.
For India, this year is even more special as it holds the presidency of G20 that marks the beginning of "Amritkaal", the 25-year period beginning from the 75th anniversary of its independence towards a futuristic, prosperous, inclusive, and developed society, distinguished by a human-centric approach at its core.
In this technology driven era, we as a nation, and CII have embarked on a Technology Mission, with the following five goals :
With a view to develop and nurture the above five goals, strengthening global collaborations will be the key.
With this background and to nurture these goals further, Confederation of Indian Industry – the B20 secretariat for India is hosting a Global Science, Research, & Innovation Summit with a theme : 'Accelerating through Global Collaborations' under the under the aegis of India's G20 Presidency on 2 May 2023 at IIT Delhi.
lndia has been on a rising trajectory over several years in the GII, from a rank of 81 in 2015 to 46 in 2021. CII being the founding knowledge partner of Global lnnovation lndex (GII) is proud to be an integral part of lndia's journey towards an innovation driven economy.
As one of the founding partners, CII is hosting the India Launch of Global Innovation Index (GII) 2022 and Innovation Conclave in partnership with the NITI Aayog, Government of India and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
The launch session will be graced by Mr Parameswaran Iyer, CEO, NITI Aayog, Mr Daren Tang, Director General, World Intellectual Property Organization, Dr VK Saraswat, Member, NITI Aayog and many other industry leaders.
CII hosted 1st ever Advanced Materials summit with a theme – ‘Redefining Manufacturing Excellence for Global Leadership’ under the aegis of CII’s National Mission on Technology, Innovation and R&D.
Advanced Materials have the power to drive technological innovation and are critical as they have applications across all the technology verticals from defence to space.
The summit was graced by Dr VK Saraswat, Member, NITI Aayog Government of India, Prof Indranil Manna, JC Bose Fellow, President, Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and Vice Chancellor, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Ranchi and Prof Pradeep Srivastava, PhD, FIE, Executive Director, Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC). The other key dignitaries present were Mr Vipin Sondhi, Chairman, CII National Committee on Technology, Innovation and Research and Dr Debashish Bhattacharjee Lead, CII Task Force on Advanced Materials and Vice President, Technology and New Materials Business, Tata Steel.
During the summit, 60+ speakers addressed at 7 sessions respectively on Titanium, Biomaterials, Urban Mining, Composites, Rare Earths Elements, Advanced Ceramics and Graphene
CII's Thought Leadership Report on Advanced Materials was also unveiled at CII Advanced Materials Summit. The report has been prepared by the CII National Task Force on Advanced Materials comprising of an elite group of experts focussing on seven Advanced materials: Titanium, Biomaterials, Urban Mining, Composites, Rare Earths Elements, Advanced Ceramics and Graphene.The report features the following details about each material: Background, strategic importance of the material, Indian scenario, gap areas, technology frontiers, role of the stakeholders such as, Government, Academia, Industry and Research Institutes and Short, medium and long Recommendations.
Advanced Material summit also hosted the felicitation of CII Industrial Innovation Awards 2022.
